Although a dishwasher sends soap and water through it each time it runs, there are cracks and crevices it won\u2019t reach. Take out the top and bottom trays and clean around the tracks and wheels. Clean out the dishwasher\u2019s filters\u2014you can find instructions for how to do this for your model in its manual.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If this doesn\u2019t work, you may need to call on a plumber for assistance. Plumbers can locate the exact cause of the bad smells and provide cleaning for drain lines. In the case of a deeper drain line clog, plumbers will use special tools such as augers or hydro-jetters to get far down into the drains and thoroughly remove the build-up that\u2019s causing the problem so it won\u2019t return.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you have an extremely old dishwasher (more than 15 years old), you may want to consider replacing it. Odors can indicate the unit simply can no longer effectively drain.
